The Cortes pay tribute with the painting “Ukraine in the heart of Aragon”

This morning the Aragonese Parliament Bureau presented the canvas made by José Manuel Cardiel to raise awareness of the situation experienced by the Ukrainian people at the moment when one year has passed since the start of the conflict in Ukraine
The president of the Cortes of Aragon, Javier Sada, accompanied by the members of the Board Ramiro Domínguez and Itxaso Cabrera, received this morning the painting “Ukraine in the heart of Aragon”, a work designed by José Manuel Cardiel to pay tribute to the Ukrainian people on the occasion of the first anniversary of the war in Ukraine. 
Furthermore, Sada explained that the Aragonese painter José Manuel Cardiel “had already made a painting about the war in Ukraine” such as the one designed for the last Aragon Day held in the Aljafería Palace, which was transferred to the Ukrainian Residents Association. in Aragon (AURA). The canvas will remain this week in the Aragonese Parliament and will later be donated to the pictorial and artistic heritage of the Aljafería and the Cortes. 

The Aragonese painter José Manuel Cardiel, specialist in Stomatology and vice president of the Zaragoza College of Physicians, has explained that with his work he tries to “raise awareness of a situation that must be stopped” through an abstract and vigorous painting in which he conveys the strength with the colors of the two flags. With this technique that combines the movement of the body with that of painting, gravity and force, Cardiel reflects feelings and moods in a different way in each of his canvases.
